A DESTINATION is now no longer enough to gain some travellers' attention. They are looking for something to do, outside the usual day trips and coach tours.

Travel operators in WA’s north have taken note and created opportunities for those who want to gain cultural knowledge as well as relax. One such operator is Faraway Bay, with its regular cooking schools. The next one, set for August 2-6, is the Bush Tucker and Camp Oven Cooking School, at which guests learn about the gourmet delights hidden in the pristine Kimberley wilderness.

They find their food and learn how to prepare it, often over the open fire of a camp oven.

The Bush Tucker and Camp Oven Cooking School consists of a four-day, all-inclusive experience for 12 guests. The package covers air transfers from Kununurra, the cooking school and all activities, as well as meals and beverages. Prices start from $4550 a person and places are limited.

Chef Pete Evans is also scheduled to host the. Celebrity Cooking School in October.
