KIMBERLEY Cooking School at Faraway Bay’s The Bush Camp at Kununurra has been acclaimed by Australian Traveller magazine as one of the best foodie experiences in Australia.
The magazine ranked the school 44th on its list of the 100 Greatest Australian Gourmet Experiences.
The magazine said learning tips of the trade from well-known Perth chef Chris Taylor and MasterChef’s Pete Evans was the chance of a lifetime. The hands-on classes for 12 people are part of a three-day all-inclusive package on offer only a few times a year.
The chefs incorporate local ingredients such as boab roots and grilled calamari or rosella flowers with grapefruit into recipes.
Simon Johnson Quality Foods, which has a shop at Shenton Park as well as in other states, was ranked 27th on the list.
Also named were The Wine and Truffle Company in Manjimup, Margaret River Providore and Cullen Wines Restaurant.
