In a major culinary coup, well known Australian chef, Pete Evans, heads to Faraway Bay, The Bush Camp in WA's East Kimberley next month to lead a special celebrity Cooking School.

The Pete Evans Cooking School will be staged over four days from September 27th to October 1st, 2009.

Recently appearing on Network Ten's hit show Master Chef Australia, Pete is one of the country's best known chefs.

Faraway Bay owner Bruce Ellison said he was very pleased Pete and Pete's fishing-mad brother in law Udo Edlinger would be joining them at the award winning property to pass on his skills and knowledge.

"Pete has stayed with us at Faraway Bay on holiday - we all got on so well and Pete was keen to come back, so we thought it was a great opportunity to work together," said Bruce.

Pete said he and Udo were excited to be returning to the East Kimberley.

"I heard about Faraway Bay through their chef Gary Fishwick, saw it on the web site and booked in the next day - and when I got there it was even better than I expected," said Pete.

"The staff are fabulous, Bruce's laugh is infectious, the landscape is some of the best I've witnessed, and of course the fishing just tops it off."

"You eat so well at Faraway Bay because you catch dinner every day - plus the guys put on a great spread for breakfast, lunch and dinner."

As part of the cooking school guests would enjoy camp oven cooking lessons, learn the art of cleaning and filleting a fresh fish, and experience a big range of seafood recipes.

"If you love seafood then you'll be in great company - we will travel around the world with our flavours and keep it simple and delicious," said Pete.

"The lessons will be informative, entertaining and hopefully inspirational," he said.

The action will take place in the open-air Eagle Lodge, perched on a headland overlooking the tranquil waters of Faraway Bay.
With no walls, Eagle Lodge is ideally suited to the climate and the spectacular setting which combines guest lounging, croc-spotting, cooking and dining, all in one dramatic location.
The flavour is laid-back and informal with guests able to be as hands on as they please.

There is also plenty of time for excursions and activities including fishing.

The four day Pete Evans Cooking School package is an experience of a lifetime and includes:

  1. Air transfers from Kununurra
  2. The Cooking School
  3. Meals and beverages
  4. Accommodation in a cabin with extraordinary 180 degree views of the bay
  5. Sightseeing and excursions during the day including boating to the magnificent twin falls on the King George River, fishing, exploring ancient rock art and more.
