Western Australia's Faraway Bay, The Bush Camp has won a coveted Australian Tourism Award, taking out the category of Unique Accommodation.

The remote East Kimberley wilderness retreat won the award at a gala ceremony at Crown Melbourne last night.

Owners Bruce and Robyn Ellison flew to Melbourne for the event and were excited to receive such a prestigious accolade.

"We are thrilled to be rated the best Unique Accommodation property in Australia," said Mr Ellison.

"It is fantastic to know that our hard work and dedication to providing guests with the ultimate wilderness experience has paid off," he said.

"We also want to recognise the Faraway Bay team which includes our staff and consultants who do an amazing job."

It's the third time Faraway Bay has won the national title for Unique Accommodation, also collecting the trophy in 2007/08 and 2004/05.

The win caps off a successful and exciting season for the property which hosted the crew of Australia, the movie who filmed nearby iconic landscapes including the King George Falls.

Faraway Bay, The Bush Camp is located in the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia, 280km west of Kununurra overlooking the Timor Sea.
Faraway Bay provides authentic Australian bush camp accommodation and true outback hospitality.
Mr Ellison said the award was a real coup in such a competitive field.

"The competition from other states was incredible, so we are particularly honoured to have won the award."

Faraway Bay beat high profile finalists including All Seasons Houseboats in Victoria, EastSail Overnight Indulgence in NSW, Great Southern Rail - The Ghan in the Northern Territory, The Henry Jones Art Hotel in Tasmania, Unforgettable Houseboats in SA, and Voyages Wrotham Park Lodge in Qld.
